Laser Hair Removal Schools Teach More Than Laser Use

One of the first things students at laser hair removal schools learn is how to determine if a person is an ideal candidate for laser hair removal treatments and understand why. The history of the process as well as how, since 1999 many states have developed regulations concerning this non-invasive procedure are also taught in most laser hair removal schools.

How to use the equipment is typically one of the easiest things to learn at a laser hair removal schools and is saved for near the end of most course, but all the techniques have been previously used successfully, and during the first uses of lasers to remove hair, were performed on a trial basis. In 1972 when a laser technician turned a patch on his arm to a bald spot, and through subsequent trials, the use of lasers to remove unwanted hair has grown tremendously. Recent rules regulating the use of laser for cosmetic purposes has led to the need for a physician to be on hand in most states to insure against medical issues arising from their use.

Laser hair removal is considered a cosmetic procedure and as such, may not be recognized by many insurance companies and any subsequent medical problems that are created may not be covered as well. However, with the laser’s use continuing to grow there is an increased demand for laser hair removal schools with lesson by trained professionals in offering the treatments.

Students Must Know What Lasers Work On

Typically, during laser hair removal, laser light is focused on a hair and the light heats the follicle, killing the hair, which will fall out on its own in 10 to 20 days. One key point taught in laser hair removal schools is that not all hair is growing at one time. As much as 10 or 20 percent of a person’s hair may be in a resting mode and only actively growing hair will be killed by the laser light. This fact will necessitate at least one repeated treatment session, sometimes more, to achieve the desired results.

They also teach what attracts laser light beams in laser hair removal schools so students can make an intelligent judgment about whether a person is a good candidate for laser treatments or if it will be waster of time. The laser is designed to be attracted to dark colors, especially the hair roots, and if the person is deeply tanned or has dark skin, may not be effective. The ideal candidate will have fair skin and dark hair, providing the most effective laser hair removal treatment.
